Winter Solstice and Commemorative Mass

There are many, many winter traditions outside of the mainstream American understanding. Learn about some of them at Mission San Luis in Tallahassee. Their Winter Solstice Celebration and Commemorative Mass will be held the Sunday before the Solstice

Adults - $5.00
Seniors (65 and over) - $3.00

Friends Members - Free

Observe the occasion of the "sun standing" at its southernmost position in the sky and also attend a Commemorative Mass by Bishop Parkes. Shop for fine crafts from local artisans, join a drum circle, learn to stomp dance, shoot a bow and arrow, and view the heavens through powerful telescopes. There will be presentations on the Mission San Luis crystal cross, colonial Christmas, astronomy, and navigation.
